About 2 miles from where I live is an area of open fields with sheep grazing and various crops growing.
It is a great place to find a variety of small bird life.
I normally find Corn Buntings, Stonechats, Linnets, Goldfinch and also Skylarks. On this occasion I concentrated on all but the latter.

DeleteLovely photos! We have those four birds in and around our garden. I think the Stonechats nest in our front hedge and this summer we have had Linnets around all the time. I started using the Merlin app (K has used it for ages) but I wanted to know what all those birds I could hear were (I am useless at remembering bird song/calls) and these four feature commonly.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mandy. I'm OK with a few common calls. I don't like the idea of attracting birds with the calls on the App like some do.
DeleteThis can cause problems especially during the breeding season.
Merlin records the sounds and tells you which birds you are listening to, although I think you can listen to the songs and calls as well. I don't like doing that either. M
