Mr Blackcap

Just like the Chiffchaff in early Spring, the Blackcap remains high in the trees initially.
The male sings away its beautiful song trying to attract the females.
They keep on the move as well and if disturbed will quite often find the most dense of bushes to perch in making clear images impossible. Just to add insult to injury they will sing away at you.

  2. Lovely shots Roy. Yes I had my bird group at Oxford Island yesterday and we saw a lot of Willow Warblers although no Chiffchaff and some Blackcaps. Also my first Swift this year and a good number of Swallows.

  3. They are quite a slim built bird for a warbler. Love the soft grey plumage.

  6. I did have a Blackcap, male, visiting my garden for a couple of weeks, he's probably moved on now as I have not seen him lately.

  8. Wonderful Roy and well done getting some clear shots of these wonderful songsters. Whenever I come across them they are in thick cover, and I have yet to get a decent photo of one!

    1. Thanks David. I find that they tend to be a little more helpful later in the season.
