Emerging Orange

Female Orange-Tip Butterfly

This was a fortunate find which I stumbled upon on my walk yesterday.
This female from its actions must have only emerged from the chrysalis a short time before I observed it.
Each time it was disturbed by a fly or bee it would only fly a short distance and settle again to dry out its wings.

    1. Thanks John. Yes I was surprised, but with the stormy weather we are now having I think she will be lucky to survive.

  11. Wow - wonderful photos! Not so easy to spot the females, much less get the opportunity to take photos. Lucky you! :-)

    1. Thanks Mandy, it was bit early and I fear for the first few as the weather has not been conducive to butterfly health just now.
