  1. Fantastic photos Roy, I do love to see your dragonfly pics :-) The BT Skimmers are superb and well done getting a Brown Hawker, you seem to have a rare talent for photographing them!

  5. Fabulous shots Roy, I love the light through the wings on the second last photo. Great banner image with the bee too.

  6. Fantastic shots! Still struggling to tell Southern from Migrant hawkers...how many times do I say that. You can see the yellow shoulder flashes on that specimen, indicating it's a southern.

  7. Your Common Darter females looks identical to a visitor I had to my garden pond today. I also assumed the same identification. Don't know how to tell whether they are immature or not.

  8. Wow, I'll have to come out to your area to shoot dragons, even if it means dealing with Heathrow ; )

  9. Nice selection here and really great to get the hawker shots as they spend so much time flying around! :-)

  10. Hey Roy... I am still not seeing a lot of dragonflies or the like off. You sure are having a good year.

  11. Lovely and super pics. I haven't seen any Emerald damselflies yet but usually see them here. I was lucky to see a female S. Hawker in England a few years ago, she was perching on a hedge and let me take some really close macros of her! Just wish the males round here did the same..... This morning just saw first Common Darter on my pond. I think dragonfly season here (on my pond) is better in late summer/early autumn. :-)

    1. Thanks Mandy, the season tends to vary from one year to the next, this year is quite good so far.
