  4. Peacocks not having a great summer here. Their colour is rather missed on the buddleias

  5. Lovely splash of colour Roy. Don't get as many here these days. I think mainly caused by our nature vandalising cricket club. There used to be a large area of nettles at one end of their field but the past two years that has been cut down so one large breeding area has been lost.

  6. Piękne zdjęcia motyli. Mi w tym roku uciekają motyle z kadru :).

  7. That first photo of the tortoiseshell is lovely. I never realised that they have those blue spots on the edges of their wings.

    1. Thanks D. They show up well if the butterfly is fairly new and not washed out from too much sun and etc.

  11. Wonderful images of the Small Tortoiseshell and the Peacock. I think both their numbers are down this year especially the Peacock. Our summer has been cooler than average which is strange when you hear that other European countries, Germany being one of them, had the hottest, record breaking temperatures. What happen to our summer this year? We were close on one occasion putting the heating on, cuddled a hot water bottle instead :-\

    1. Thanks Lyn. Both species have done OK in the area where I am. Also I think you have had more rain down there than we have this year, but there have been the odd cold day especially towards the evening.
