Preening by the Pool

Perched in the sunshine this Cormorant is conducting a spot of preening.
The white patches denote that its a breeding adult bird.

  8. Hey Roy... Great shot's of the Cormorant!! I always thing of prehistoric birds when I see them!!
    There used to be a lot of them on the river here, but they seemed to disappear!! Maybe the lack of fish, I don't know, but I loved to watch them with there wings spread drying in the sun!! I remember being amazed when I found out that there feathers don't have oils like other water birds !!

    1. Thanks GG. They have moved in land in England and fish lakes and rivers.
      There is small colony in the Parkland that I walk, which is where this one comes from.

  10. Beautiful colors. Light is often so grey around our waters that you can't see their beauty as clearly.
