Redwing

Another one of our Winter visitors from the Scandinavian countries.
The Redwing from the Thrush family is often observed along with flocks of Fieldfare. I normally observe them in ones and twos and only occasionally with Fieldfare.

This is the a Redwing showing off his 'Red' wing, which is more orange than red I think, depending how the light catches it.

  2. Lovely photos of the Redwings. It is a delight seeing them again. The Redwings and Fieldfares are still too high up in the trees for a decent photo with my camera - no doubt we'll get some cold weather in the New Year to bring them down into the garden.
    Happy Christmas!

  4. That is a lovely bird, Roy. I've always loved the thrushes and their spotty, streaky breasts.

Bit of a bugger to get though at times. They spot me coming a mile away.
