A Birds and Butterflies Week

A few more interesting images in the last week, so things are improving from the sparse times of recent.

Firstly, a Blackbird in Moult. Never a pretty sight.

A Small White female of the Summer Brood.

A Male Brimstone.

A few shots from a brief sighting of a Skylark.

A Speckled Wood (Second brood).

A good time to see Red Admiral butterflies. 

The big sky view from the area adjacent to Maiden Castle Hill Fort which is in walking distance from my home. All images below from that area.

Unfortunately I had the digital converter set to X2 on the camera, but the result is just usable.

A female Stonechat which made up the pair I was observing.

Haw berries always dress up a hedgerow quite nicely.

Now I know I said I wouldn't post anymore Wheatear images this year. (Well, I lied.)

Seriously, they are still hanging around in mid October due to plenty of food and our extended Summer weather. So I couldn't resist it.

I wonder how fast a fly can fly. (See below)

Kestrel Combat

A walk around Portland Bill and along the East cliff area produced some unusual images this week.

I arrived at a scene along the East Cliff of two female Kestrels involved in a dispute of some kind, probably territorial or they just didn't like each other.

However, eventually they happily went on their separate ways without injury (as far as I could tell).
