On one of my local walks there is a pond in a small woodland Nature Reserve.
All the year around there is usually a Moorhen observed on and around the water.
At this time a pair of Moorhen have set a nest on the water amongst the reeds, which thankfully is not accessible by humans.
When I visited one of the Moorhens was sitting on eggs. The other Moorhen was bringing more nesting material to build up the nest further.
Hopefully later on I will get a few shots of the young as they swim around the pond.
The nest is centre right in the photograph.
I must point out that these images were taken with a long lens so as not to disturb the sitting bird.
Hi Roy, beautiful photos of this nest. We have more eurosian coots here than moorhens. Have a nice weekend !
