Local Walk - Twittering in the Trees

The weather now improves generally, at the same time the bird life becomes more active.
There are also many audible signs that reveal this activity.

Greenfinch are certainly one of those and their constant twittering can be heard during most of the day.

Goldfinch also make similar noise.

The Dunnock has its own special call that is quite unmistakable.

Another sound heard frequently on my walk was the tap-tap-tap of the Great-spotted Woodpecker observed usually high up in tall trees.

Quietly going about its life was this Moorhen along a small stream.

Blue Tits continually call as they search for food.

  1. Nice variety! That woodpecker certainly has a distinctive belly color. Everyone always wants to know why our Red-bellied woodpecker is called that because you can barely see the red color if at all. This one would be deserving of the name! I love hearing all the birds twittering in the springtime. Such a hopeful sound after the winter.

  4. Lovely photos! Haven't been outside much the last couple of weeks as we have had really high winds, so I've only heard a blackbird singing so far, though hubby heard the first chiffchaff song of the year, corn buntings and a skylark.
