Kingfisher

The elusive Kingfisher to be precise.
This male below flew straight into my camera view and landed on a post.
You have to get lucky to photograph this bird.

  6. Roy, it's always a good feeling when you're able to make the most of a shot that presents itself when you least expect it.
    Is he lifting a foot in the first image as a signal to say "com'on mate, you've only got a few seconds to get those photo's then I'm off" ?...[;o)

    1. Yes it was only a few Trevor and unfortunately the sun was behind the subject which didn't help.

  7. they are special birds. I'm lucky enough to have Rye meads as a local patch where we have a breeding pair that had at least 3 broods this year!

    1. I have some idea where they are on the areas I walk Pete, but seeing one this close and the length of time was very unusual.

  10. You must indeed fortunate to be able to photograph this bird, and you had that luck. It is also a beautiful bird with its bright blue plumage. Very nice these pictures.
