A Squirrels Lot

Grey Squirrels are active most of the year, when they are not eating peanuts left out for them of course.{:)) They breed twice yearly, December to February and May to June. They produce up to six in a litter and the young leave the nest after about 10 weeks.
They are a Herbivore and eat nuts, plants, seeds, berries, buds and shoots. They will take eggs and small rodents if food is really scarce.

This one below is eating peanuts left out for it.

This ones lunch consisted of a few tasty Ash Tree buds.

Then a spot of grooming.

Then taking in a the Sun.

  5. Lovely images Roy, it's always interesting to watch their antics, but I'm afraid it's a love hate relationship when they're in my garden raiding the bird feeders!...[;o)

  7. What a lovely series Roy. You managed to get close (as to say, it looks like that). They are beautiful little squirrels, although I heard they are a problem to the population of the Red squirrel.
    Love you photo's and text!

    Have a nice sunday,
    Marianne

    1. Thanks Marianne, it was way up in a tree and I was using a 600mm lens. (Panasonic 100-300mm).
They have encroached on much of the territory that use to be long to the Red.

    1. Thanks Amanda, yes they are different as some are use to humans and others aren't. This one remained high in a tree and would certainly run away if I could get any nearer.

  10. Wonderful photos of the grey squirrels. They're not my favourite creatures, but I'm still fascinated by their behaviour and you've captured that so well here.
