I love this species but have not seen them since a very long time. Good to see that at least somebody is enyoing them. Nice captures. Beste regards, Sjerp
Hi Roy, I'm sort of jealous ;-). I've only seen them twice in my life and of course without any possibility of taking photographs. So I enjoy yours very much. Your Robin by the way, is gorgeous!
Kind regards, Marianne
Maybe it is a stupid question but can you tell me when I have to use the word photograph or picture. Is the difference between UK and US or???? I'm starting to be confused ;-).
Thanks Marianne. Not a stupid question really, it is confusing at times. You can use 'Photograph' or 'Image' as it would mean the same. Some photographers get really technical and call it a 'File' when displayed on computer photographic software, which sounds good, but doesn't really apply. Picture is more correctly used for a framed painting or drawing item you hang on the wall. Not really anything to do with UK and US although we are at times separated by a common language.{:))
These are simply lovely! I do like the blurry backgrounds with the sharp textures you have in the foreground. And the colours and light are splendid and so cheering.
Roy, we have Common Redpolls and Hoary Redpolls here in the USA. I wonder if your "lesser" is the same as our "Common," or if it is a different species entirely!
Thanks D. Its mainly this time of year through Winter that you could see them. They are usually high up in the tall trees and unless you studied the high branches particularly with binoculars you may not even see them at all.
Looks like a 'Lesser' to me Roy.

ReplyDeleteYes Kathie, the Common the Lesser and the Hoary is what we call the Arctic Redpoll.
DeleteLovely photos - I've never knowingly seen a redpoll.
