In the Open Fields - Birds

About 2 miles from where I live is an area of open fields with sheep grazing and various crops growing.

It is a great place to find a variety of small bird life.

I normally find Corn Buntings, Stonechats, Linnets, Goldfinch and also Skylarks. On this occasion I concentrated on all but the latter.

A Set of Recent Images

Scenes and nature images I have shot recently walking the Dorset countryside.

The Lulworth Skipper

A butterfly I always like to shoot as it is only found within the first 5 miles of the Dorset coastline.

Flag Iris

The Adonis Blue butterfly.

Mallard Ducklings are emerging along the river now.
You just have to take a few shots.!

The Red Campions are still hanging on in some areas.

Female Brimstone butterflies are going about laying eggs already.

The Common Blue butterfly mating.
The male is on the right in this image.

I was fortunate to see this Male and female Pheasant.
I was one side of a hedgerow. I heard the Cock Pheasant call.
I looked around the corner and got this shot. Then they both ducked down and remained hidden.

Robins work terribly hard at this time finding food and feeding young, they have no time for personal care. Hence the dishevelled appearance.
