The Painted Lady

The reoccurring annual event during my butterfly pursuits has taken place for this year.
Each year since the mass of Painted Lady butterfly invasion of England in 2009, I normally only get one observation of the species and that is usually on my Heathland/Woodland walk.
Typically again for this year it happened yesterday. So here are the results.

    Lovely shots Roy! I have only seen one of these this year, it certainly hasn't been the explosive year that Butterfly Conservation anticipated!

    Fantastic images of beautiful butterflies, Roy. I love how furry their bodies are; quite luxurious looking. My favorite shots, as always, are the transilluminated ones that make the wings look like stained glass. Cheers!

    Stunning is the only word Roy, these pics are glorious :-) I have seen quite a few Painted Ladies near the coast this year but just the one inland. Hopefully we will all enjoy further sightings of this species in the remainder of the summer and into early autumn :-)
