Speckled Wood and Flowers

The Speckled Wood (Pararge aegeria)
I took these images of the Speckled Wood butterfly in woodland on a morning after rain storms overnight.
There were sun rays coming through the trees and the butterflies were pitching on bramble leaves. There was considerable activity as at least ten of the species were flying around at that location.

Later on during the walk I took some images of these delightful little Bird's-foot Trefoil (Lotus corniculatis) growing in an open meadow. They vary in colour through the stages of growth from red to orange to yellow.
