Wren

Wrens are never easy to see and photograph at the best of times.
With most of the trees and bushes still covered in foliage, I was fortunate to find two that were hiding a low bush. I watched for a while and they both eventually put in brief appearances and it was a matter of shoot and hope for the best. I managed to get one of them.

  2. Nice photos, I like wrens. There are a lot of them around here but you usually only catch glimpses of them flitting from one place to another, they never seem to stay still for long..

    1. Thanks D. Hopefully you get to see a few more in winter when they can't hide quite so well.

  3. This little bird dominates our garden! It shouts at any intrusion to its territory. My favourite bird. Great pictures.

  5. Wonderful photos, Roy. I'm envious that you've managed to take them. I've almost given up trying to photograph Wrens, they are so quick and usually so well hidden. This little bird is lovely.

There is always one box they nest in every year, but this year I did not see one at all !! : (

  9. Brilliant photos of this pretty little wren Roy and I love your header too. Fancy that, identifying the Union Jack as being improperly hung in my post. Very observant of you. I went back and took another look and saw immediately. Thanks for that info!

  10. Wonderful! None of our wrens are easy to get. I have a pair of Carolina Wrens in the yard. Have you seen them on SMU? NO! Therefore I must say, "Hats off!" to you!

  13. I am thinking about getting a nestbox for the wrens to roost in during the cold winter months. One of my neighbours has House Martins nests under the eaves of her roof and during the winter as many as nine wrens come and roost in them.
