A Jay in the Woods

My latest images of the Jay, which I was able to sneak up to in one of the woodland areas of the parkland that I regularly walk.  My observations didn't last very long though and he was gone.

  1. Gorgeous bird and gorgeous pics.

A query on a different bird - is it likely that a bird, spotted by my partner on our bird feeder a few days ago, could be a linnet?
Finch-looking, with lots of pink, much more subtle than bullfinch of either sex, feeding on nyjer seed with a goldfinch. I'll try to link to his video clip on my photo blog later today.

  3. Nice shots Roy of a wonderful and, most of the time, shy bird.

  4. What a great opportunity Roy! They're usual so shy! Do you put food down or is it whoever manages the park?

    1. I do put food down some times Jen, but not on this occasion. Various members of the public do that during the week.
Its just a tree stump in woodland close to a footpath.

  6. So envious of your lovely, close views of a bird I don't see much of let alone photograph! My favourite is last but one but they are all lovely Roy. You must be very pleased....and I'm very green with envy ;-)

  8. Hahaha!
They don't really want to wait for us to get too close!
But your patience is rewarded alright!
    Nice pics, Roy!

  9. Told you Roy! Knocked spots off mine! Lovely birds, I think all crows seem to have a 'personality', or is that just me? ;)

  10. The Jay looks great standing on the stump. The structure and shape of the wood make the shots even more interesting!
